Zhejiang University / Department of Political Science

Xiaoguang FAN is an associate professor in sociology at Zhejiang University, China. His research interests fall on how social change can shape behaviors and subjective consequences and how social networks and institutional contexts moderate or mediate these effects. Much of his work investigates market transformation, institutions within subjective inequality, political participation, and wealth accumulation in China. Another research line examines the academic field in Chinese social science and other countries worldwide. A new research project seeks to understand how macro-societal and meso-organizational forces reshape the formation of economic elites in China and the United States.
