Lukas is an associate Professor at the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Chile and Visiting Professor at the Heidelberg Center for Latin America of the University of Heidelberg. He is a geographer from the Freie Universität Berlin and holds a PhD in Geography from the Christian-Albrechts Universität zu Kiel, Germany. Michael is editor of the Latin American geography journal ‘Investigaciones Geográficas: una mirada desde el Sur’, associate researcher at the Center for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES), coordinator of the Santiago node of the Horizon2020 project “Contested Territories” and principal investigator in Chile of the research project “Wealth&Space-Contested geographies of wealth reproduction in Latin America” (2023-2027). His research focuses on the intersections of international urban political economy, urban political ecology, and power relations in urban governance and planning in Latin America and Chile.
