May Khattab is a PhD candidate in sociology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), affiliated with the Centre Maurice Halbwachs (CMH) in Paris and the Centre d’études et de documentation économiques, juridiques et sociales (CEDEJ) in Cairo. Her research focuses on the socialization of young Egyptian elites, with particular attention to elite closure, social reproduction, global hierarchies, and race.
