Biography

Francois Schoenberger is a postdoctoral researcher in sociology at the University of Lausanne. His research focuses on economic elites. In his PhD, he analysed how investment bankers cultivate, maintain and use social capital for financial gain. In examining economic elites at work, he also studies the culture of overwork within investment banking. Furthermore, he investigates the dynamics of elite recruitment, including aspects of education and career paths. As a mixed-method scholar, he employs a wide range of methods that combine ethnography, interviews and causal inference techniques.
