Felipe Perilla Reyes is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Zurich (IPZ). His research sits at the intersection of comparative politics and political economy, focusing on the historical determinants of political selection and elite formation. Bridging historical political economy and computational social science, he studies how elite structures emerge, persist, and shape long-term development. He develops text2rel (beta), a Python package that uses NLP and network analysis to extract individuals, relations, and events from unstructured historical sources with strong emphasis on data provenance and validation, enabling reproducible and scalable research across diverse historical contexts.
